The Hokubei Hochi Foundation wishes to extend our deep appreciation for your support during our fundraising campaign for our Nikkei Newspaper Digital Archive Project.

We nearly met our goal of $4,500 and are very thankful to the Japanese American Chamber of Commerce who matched your donations, and to seeyourimpact.org team who enabled us to use their social media platform.

Your donations will go directly to fund bilingual translators and trained student technicians who will be scanning the past issues of the North American Post (Hokubei Hochi) and the North American Times (Hokubei Jiji), the latter published pre-WWII.

Because these issues are in Japanese and often in the old-style Kanji characters, the process is more difficult to translate and the scanning must be carefully done to preserve the integrity of the pages. Your support will make it possible to complete the scanning and uploading approximately 800 issues of the Jiji, and the North American Post from 1946 through 1950.

We are excited about the progress we are making, in partnership with the University of Washington Suzzallo Library Microfilm and Digital Initiatives Departments.

Thank you for your continued support.
